This 10-story boutique Portland hotel is located in a 1912 building that formerly housed a department store. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the lobby has soaring ceilings and tall windows, a marble fireplace topped with a grand antique mirror, and plenty of comfortable seating areas with couches and armchairs.
The Hotel Monaco Portland - a Kimpton Hotel offers complimentary newspapers, coffee, and tea in the lobby every morning, and a hosted wine hour every evening by the fireplace. During the wine hour, guests are supplied with paint, paintbrushes, and canvas and encouraged to create works of art. - Take Airport Way to I-205 S and continue two miles.
- Take the exit for I-84 W/Downtown. Continue about six miles.
- Stay in the middle lane and follow the signs for Downtown/City Center. When the highway splits, bear left.
- Stay in the right lane and bear right toward the Morrison Bridge.
- From the bridge, continue straight on Washington St in the middle lane. The hotel is on the left at the intersection with 5th Ave.
Getting there: Taxis are readily available for transport from the airport to Hotel Monaco. They cost $26–35, while Town Car and limo service both cost more than $36. Guests can opt instead for shuttle service for $16–25. MAX, Portland's light rail line, also makes the trip to downtown in 35 minutes, and the cost is less than $5; riders take the Red Line to the Mall/SW 5th Ave station and walk one block north to the hotel. All fees subject to change without notice.
Getting around: Downtown Portland is easy to maneuver on foot. In addition, the hotel is located in the downtown core (known as Fareless Square), where rides on public buses, streetcars, and the MAX light rail line are complimentary. For trips beyond Fareless Square, a single ride or an all-day pass costs less than $5, while a three-day pass can be obtained for $5–15. Fees subject to change without notice. Taxi service is also convenient, and the hotel can arrange for Town Car or limo service as well; fees vary based on destination.
